Should we allow non-enrolled students borrow books?

In my previous post, I commented “Bravo” to OVP Avademics of the Student Council. This is a project that was long overdue to be integrated in My.LaSalle.

Last trimester was my final term in DLSU as an enrolled student. My question is simple, “Should the office allow students like me to borrow books?” I believe that the system should not allow, both in the old manual system and the new automated system.

Aimee, forgive me for trying out the system and reserving a book. Now, I have reserved a book which I should not have allowed.

If my opinion of not allowing non-enrolled student borrow, tweaking the system should be easy.

Two simple solutions:

  1. My.LaSalle should only allow (filter) students enrolled in the current term to borrow books.
    • Hopefully, ITC will be willing to make the necessary changes before the next term
  2. When claiming books, students should present their EAF for the term or official receipt/credit memo (which they don’t require since time immemorial).
    • This will be the easiest remedy.

The AIM here is to make PL available to DLSU students today and make it available in the future. Ever since, this loophole in the system existed. If the SC wants to minimize or prevent losing books, you the the answer. Animo La Salle!
